Clifton Fire Dept Hydrant Testing

Twice a year the Fire Department conducts hydrant inspections. The inspections cycles are March/April in the spring and September/October in the fall. Normally checking the hydrant does not involve flowing water and should not create discolored water. If there is an unexpected problem with a hydrant you may experience discolored water.

If you experience discolored water please call the PASSAIC VALLEY WATER COMMISSION AT 973-340-4300. Also if your laundry has become discolored due to brown rust colored water please contact the PASSAIC VALLEY WATER COMMISSION. They have a product that will remove the discoloration. The Clifton Fire Department is careful not to create discolored water but sometimes it is beyond our control. The hydrant inspections are necessary to keep the hydrants operating properly if needed.

Your cooperation and understanding during this timeframe is greatly appreciated.
